Busy, busy, busy.  Installations and getting ready for the Better Living (home and garden) show here in Portland, in March.  Also just filmed 6, count 'em, 6 more how-to videos for Decoupage Floors!  Woohoo!  I show how to skim with a special cement product to cover your old linoleum, tile or plywood so you can decoupage on a smooth, hard surface AND no demolition of the old flooring needed!  How to color your paper like Italian Marble, Slate, Granite, Sandstone and how to decoupage your old counter tops, too.  Here's a photo of the video cameras set up at my studio at Milepost 5, an artist live/work community.

Here are a couple of photos of the finished flooring at Eye Can See Optical.  The client had me wrap the dark colored paper up the wall to create a unique baseboard effect.  The dark edging adds an interesting element to the space.  I also decoupaged the counter front.  The tile flooring in front of the counter is a blend of off white, camel colors with darker brown accents, not sure why it shows up so pink in the photo! Yikes!
December brought another trip for me to the Dallas, TX metroplex for a Decoupage Floor installation.  This time it was a commercial project, an optical clinic/facial spa relocating a few miles from their original space on Preston and 121.  I did their flooring about 7 years ago and they enjoyed it so much they wanted me to come back and create the same look in the new space.  The cement floor was supposed to be clean, smooth and ready for me to begin work when I arrived.  As usual on commercial projects, here is what it looked like!

So here is a photo of the paper after being installed and sealed.  I always love when its time to put the sealer on a new floor because it really brings such depth of color and richness to the paper.  The paper coloration incorporates the wall and trim colors for a visual flow throughout the house.
December already?!?  Out of the country most of October, then busy, busy decoupaging floors in a house in Grapevine, TX.  Oh yes, then some wonderful days spent with my family at Thanksgiving.  Here's a photo of the paper as it was drying.

Attended an all day training seminar on Moisture Remediation in concrete.  Thrilling, huh?  Actually it was great!  Okay, I'm sort of geeky like that.  Moisture in concrete can adversely affect any flooring product so it's important to know how to control it when the need arises.

Received my shipment of paper today.  This should do quite nicely for awhile!  Glad to have it.  Am preparing a lot of paper to decoupage an entire house in Grapevine, TX, in November.
Participated in the Build It Green! Home Show and Fair the weekend of Sept. 22 in Portland.  Green build vendors showing off their talents and products to many interested attendees.  With such a unique flooring process, I had lots of questions and a great deal of interest.  Here's my booth showing many samples and photos of my work.
My first Decoupage Floor installation in Portland, OR!  Woohoo!  The client wanted red accents in the flooring to give the basement renovation some visual warmth.  After some additional remodeling that is underway, I will continue the decoupage flooring throughout the space.

A lot has happened since I last posted to my blog!  Counter tops, floors and a move to Portland, Oh MY! Now that I am settling into my new apartment and work studio I can get back on some type of schedule for posting again.  I recently covered a laminate counter top that was silver colored to resemble stainless steel.  Hmmm.  Not exactly.  Anyway, now the client has a renovated counter top in the blacks and grays she loves.  Yes, I even put small specks of dark blue in the surface to compliment the blue willow china she collects.

Been working on a commercial project for a couple of months now and forgot to post pictures to my Blog!  Sorry to my Blogger followers for the oversight. One photo shows the floor being skimmed so it's nice and smooth to decoupage over.  The project is almost finished now, just two small spaces left.

I've been super busy with installations and seem to forget to update everything as I should in the time I have.  So my Facebook page for Decoupage Floors, my Tweets, and my website got more attention lately.  Sorry.    My most exciting creation to date is the "hardwood floor" look I am now doing.  I can create any color for the wood, resembling oak, pine, etc... and also adjust the "plank" length, too.  My first installation was a success!  Take a look and see if you agree.  The clients wanted a whitewashed wood look with a lot of variation from piece to piece.  They love it!

Something new, something old (but still lookin' great!)

Wow! Have some catching up to do on my blog!  Been posting to my Facebook page, www.facebook.com/DecoupageFloors  and realized my blog had been neglected.  Here are photos from several recent Decoupage Floor installations.  The front porch is a new installation, while the orthodontist office is a little over 3 years old, just wanted to show you how groovy the floor looks!

Willowbend area of Dallas - Decoupage Floor installation

What a beautiful area of Dallas, Willowbend is nestled in the heart of the Metroplex but you feel miles away from the hustle and bustle.  The homes are gorgeous and sophisticated - the perfect place for one of my decoupage floors.  Throughout this house is the finest hardwood flooring but the homeowner wanted something durable and easy to clean for the laundry room floor.  Plus they wanted it to match the tone of the hardwoods for a very smooth transition between rooms.  I was able to perfectly match the coloring and tone of the rich, brown oak flooring.

A DIYer from Florida just sent me this photo and a quick note about his first decoupaged floor after purchasing my How-To video.  He said a relative stopped by on April 1st to view the new floor and thought it was an April Fools joke when told it was paper.  He couldn't believe it wasn't a stone floor!

Here's a BEFORE and AFTER on a tiled entry way and adjacent bathroom.  The builder of the house must have gotten a great deal on green marble tiles and hoped everyone loved that color.  Well, this homeowner didn't.  So I skimmed over it with my super-duper product that covers the tile so it doesn't have to be removed, then decoupaged it.  The colors incorporated into this custom floor match adjacent wall paints and decor.  Homeowner said he was "blown away by how great the floor looks now".  Nice to hear, thanks!  (Green tape comes off tomorrow after final sealer goes on...)

Working on a bedroom where the bed can't be removed from the room!  No joke.  Antique bed.  Sam Houston slept in it.  Ain't going nowhere.  So we floated our special product over plywood subflooring, creating a beautifully smooth surface to decoupage.  The bed was up on blocks, of course!  Then we moved the bed, filled the block spaces, let that dry, decoupaged around the legs, let that dry, moved the bed, etc... you get the idea.  Now the room is finished.  Just waiting to get the bed linens back in place for a lovely photo.  You'd never know the bed never left the room.  Here's a photo of my helper prepping the wood under the bed.

Just got a great comment from someone who ordered my "How to Decoupage Floors" video.  Kaye in Ohio wrote:  "It's very well done.  I really appreciate the amount of detail in the instructions."  Thanks, Kaye!  Can't wait to get some of her installation photos.

I've starting shipping out my "How to Decoupage Floors" videos, along with rolls of my professional-grade Kraft paper to DIYers in Florida, Oregon and Ohio.  Can't wait to see photos and hear how their installations went!  Will post when I get them, of course.  Here's the NEW YouTube video.  I made and posted a new one to explain why my process is so much better than anything else available on YouTube, TV or in any magazine...

Spring has definitely sprung.  January was filled with days of clearing/cleaning/selling my household goods since my house sold.  Now I am back in the groove and my instructional DVD for 'How to Decoupage Floor's is ready!  My professional techniques for applying the paper, along with beautiful coloring options, sets my video far and above anything else I've seen on YouTube, TV or in a magazine. When you are taking the time and effort for such a project, why not do it right, buy my video and create a handsome, but more importantly, smooth and durable surface.  Here's a link to the promo video I've posted on my website as well as YouTube (or you can just search decoupage floors). http://youtu.be/pKiH1uJcQQI
Already have requests for the video so I need to put on my 'shipper' hat now...
